ABOUT

Welcome to

THE BEE – Cafe | Bed & Breakfast | Apiary

in Opperdoes.

‘What is it with all the anglicism?’ You might wonder…

…the name -THE BEE – pays tribute to the fact that we’re ‘not from around here’. It is also a playful reference and invitation to just be(e ) and enjoy some time with us.

In early 2021, we; Vickey and Björn – both expats from Britain and Germany respectively; decided to embark on a new adventure and purchased the then called Pannenkoekenstation and de Bijenstal. The property of about 4500m2 has, over the past 20 years, seen a gradual transformation. Which started as farm, then  bee keeping enterprise, soon changed into a museum, which also hosted model trains. Trekkerhuts were added and eventually a restaurant opened around 2017.

We spent the past years on refurbishing the huts and apartment, adding a dedicated camp site and growing our bees to be healthy again.

In  2023,  we proudly (re) opened the Cafe. This follows our initial vision to create a wholesome place for people to relax and enjoy. Whatever you are looking to a spend long weekend, stay for holidays or are just passing through, at The BEE you will be greeted with a warm welcome.

GUEST REVIEW

We enjoyed our stay very much. Very friendly owners who created a warm atmosphere! Nice coffee before departure and we were waved goodbye by the whole family! We are now 31 but we really enjoyed the trampoline.
